Dr. Ian Edmison

Dr. Edmison (Retired in 2021) grew up in Ottawa and Dunrobin, going to high school in Kanata. He attended the University of Waterloo, graduating in Optometry as class president in 1980. He then moved to Carleton Place and practiced with Bruce McDonald till he retired in 1985. After Dr. Madigan-Swant became a partner in 1994 they expanded the size of their practice when they moved to their current location in 1995. The practice has since continued to grow with the town of Carleton Place and Dr. Edmison is proud of the fact that this practice was one of, if not the first in Ontario to have Optometrists working together with an Ophthalmologist and an Optician to provide their patients with the best of care, providing expertise in all areas of eye care. The practice once again expanded last year, and we now have six Optometrists working together with their caring and efficient staff to take care of the vision of Carleton Place, something we plan on doing for a long time to come. Dr. Edmison has done charitable work in Jamaica with Canada Vision Care and belongs to the Canadian and Ontario Associations of Optometry and was a past president of the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. Ian and his wife Tammy enjoy the outdoors and travel and have shared these, and many other activities with their kids who have moved on to university and careers, with T.J. Designing cars for Cadillac and Abby and Sandy joining the Canadian Forces.
